Finding The Best Treatment For You
At Balanced, Women’s Healthcare covers a wide range of female-specific conditions, including pregnancy, menopause, gynaecological conditions, painful sex, continence issues, and female-related cancers or surgery.
Women’s Health Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy that could help you if you are pre or post-natal, menopausal, or if you have symptoms such as incontinence, over-active bladder, vulvodynia, pain with sex, or prolapse.
Balanced also offers Women’s Health Pilates and Pregnancy Massage, supporting women through pregnancy, post-natal recovery, menopause, surgery and rehabilitation.
How Women's Physiotherapy Helps
Women’s Health Physiotherapy can help with symptoms and changes that occur during pregnancy, after birth, around menopause or at other stages of life.
Post-natally, physiotherapy can support recovery after birth trauma, c-section, low back or pelvic girdle pain, prolapse, incontinence, diastasis recti and return to exercise or sport.
Treatment can also help with pelvic floor dysfunction, including leakage, bladder frequency, vulvodynia, pain with sex, or low back and pelvic pain.
Pilates and pregnancy massage may also support comfort, strength, posture, muscle control and confidence as your body changes.
What to Expect During Treatment
Your first appointment includes a full assessment, beginning with a detailed history and a discussion about your individual needs.
Your appointment may include:
- A physical assessment
- Appropriate treatment and/or exercises
- An intimate pelvic floor examination, if required and with your consent
- Women’s Health Pilates options, including 1:1 sessions, small group studio work and ante/post-natal Pilates classes
- Pregnancy Massage using side-lying positioning and Swedish massage techniques
All consultations take place in a private room and are completely confidential.
