Over-active bladder – also known as irritable bladder. You may need to urinate with some urgency, frequency or get up a lot at night. You may not make it to the toilet in time.
Bladder leakage - stress urinary incontinence. You may leak urine when you cough, sneeze, run, lift or during sexual intercourse

Pelvic organ prolapse – this involves one or more of the pelvic organs bulging into the vagina. This is often described as a heaviness down below but it can also affect the smooth emptying of the bowel or bladder.
Bowel problems – bowel leakage, leakage of wind, and constipation can be distressing, but can often be helped.
Female pelvic pain – this includes vulvodynia (pain in the vulval area), pain on intercourse (dyspareunia and vaginismus), bladder pain syndrome, and distressing feelings of hyper arousal. For some, there are identifiable causes whereas for others it is very difficult to know what the cause is. Sadly, it is quite common, but mobilisation and rehabilitation of the pelvic floor with exercises can often help these conditions

Joint related pelvis and low back pain – the Pelvic Health team are musculoskeletal physiotherapists and as such treat sacro-illiac dysfunction, coccyx dysfunction, pubic symphysis dysfunction and low back pain.

Treatments we use

Pelvic floor rehabilitation – exercises to help strengthen and improve endurance of the pelvic floor muscles.
Relaxation and breathing exercises – to help let go of tension in your pelvic floor and other muscles.
Spinal and pelvic joint mobilisation
Soft tissue release – of muscles around the pelvis, low back and hips, and maybe the pelvic floor.
Education – you will be taught how to get the best out of your condition, and how small changes in lifestyle can benefit you
